Who ya got? * Carey (graduated nine from a 10-0 MAL team that went to the state semis)? * New Riegel (went to the state semis two years ago; finished second in league last year; returns eight veterans)? * St. Wendelin (third last year and lost in sectional finals to Carey; won MAL two years ago, but fell in regional finals to New Riegel; returns reigning MAL Player of the Year and six other veterans, but graduated a four-year point guard and is always struggling with height/size)? * Hopewell-Loudon (losing record, but four veterans are back, including a three-year starter, and a couple 6-footers)? * Newcomer Lakota (only won twice last year, but brings back a lot of veterans; and how will an extra MAL game figure into the mix?)? * Calvert (graduated one player, and tough to beat in that confessional-sized gym of theirs)? * Someone else?

New Riegel is always tough, gravedigger. The worst season coach Lucius has had there is a 10-10 year in 1998-99; New Riegel only played 19 games that year in the regular season. The Blue Jackets have reached at least the district semifinals every year since 2000-01 -- 20 times overall since Lucius took over in 1985-86 -- and made it to the state semifinals two years ago and the regional finals last year. New Riegel has won six outright MAL titles and shared four others since the league started with the 1985-86 season, but the last title came in 2004-05 and was shared with St. Joseph. Those two also shared the 2003-04 title.
