The SLL is looking like it will be very strong this year.
Eastwood could have a starting lineup all over 6'4. Led by big man Clay Rolf.
Genoa will be strong again returning Bassitt, Wonnell, Lester and others. Wonnell is a 6'9 big man that will match up with Rolf twice this season. Can't wait to see those two games.
Elmwood will look to return to form with a very experienced group of Seniors led by Reid Rothenbuhler and "Shorty" Tyson.
I think the SLL teams will have better sucess in the tourny this year as last season no team made it to the District Finals.

It's always hard in bball as both of those teams will have to find their legs after football and may take some time getting ready. They may lose something early in the season that they wouldn't normally lose.
I really think the Eagles will take it this year, followed by Genoa, Elmwood, Gibsonburg, Lake, Woodmore, and Otsego

I would have to agree with Eastwood and Genoa being the favorites. Elmwood should be deep and competitive, There probem is lack of size, which will hurt them against the 2 favorites.

MrOHSN...I live in the district with children at Elmwood. I follow Elmwood athletics. Will your niece be playing varsity or jv? I don't recall her from last year, but didn't see a lot of girls BB. I do know they struggled last year after the graduation of the 08 class. That class was very talented.

I believe she'll be on varsity this year but spent last year as JV. She needs to pick up the intensity a little but her height and parent's DNA should help her be an average player. lol.

Elmwood boys have their 1st scrimmage this saturday morning at Elmwood against Liberty Center. I plan on going out and seeing what this years team looks like. Should be a pretty deep team, but their lack of size may hurt them.

royalk,
If you don't mind, would you like to send us some information (i.e. roster, players to look out for, etc)? I would like to post it on our news site.

RoyalK never came back, but Elmwood went 6-0 against LC and Bettsville. Don't know many details. He did say Bettsville has a decent big man and a very good shooting guard.

Hey, we saw Galion win the NOL in football, St. Joe the MAL, etc. Who knows, maybe the Bettsville GIRLS could win the MAL. Just kidding.

Elmwood scrimmaged Fremont Ross and Fostoria this morning. They won all 3 quarters abgainst Ross rather easily. They tied 2 against Fostoria and lost the last one by a point. They gave very good effort, which is what thay have to do. They lack size, but still look to be a very solid team. They run the floor very well and play pretty good defense. They have a very tuff opening game next saturday at LB. Can't wait.
