Any thoughts on how this region might play out?
My take on region 18 is we are gonna have some new players this year. Especially with Wynford dropping to D6.
4 of the favorites for a spot already have 1 loss heading into week 3. Liberty-Benton lost to Elida week 1. Tinora lost to D6 favorite Delphos St Johns. Fairview lost to Wauseon week 1. LCC put up a good show but also fell to DSJ.
Patrick Henry hasnt been tested yet and wont this week going up against NWOAL doormat Montpelier. Week 4 the Patriots travel to Liberty Center to take on the Tigers.
Lakota is making a strong push to grab a spot this year. The Raiders have defeated D5 Northwood and Elmwood. We will see how the first year in the MAL treats them. If they can finish 8-2 or better I think they will get in.
We will know more about Liberty Benton after tonights game against Arlington.
Tinora should be able to run the table in the GMC with only Fairview and Hicksville putting up much competition.
Its still early in the season but here are my top 8 to make the playoffs....in no particular order.
Patrick Henry Tinora Ashland Crestview Delphos Jefferson Hicksville Lakota
Ok, so I'm a little indecisive. Fighting for the last 2 spots will be LB, Oberlin, Hillsdale, Fairview, LC, and LCC

oberhaus,
You make a few good points:
1. I don't want to speculate on Liberty Benton until after tonight's game. 2. Lakota's true test will be the MAL - Carey, Mohawk and Hopewell. Even Calvert could give them a tough game. However, Lakota should win 7-8 games and get in.
Here are my top 8 in no random order:
Ashland Crestview Patrick Henry Hicksville Lakota Jeromesville Hillsdale Liberty Benton Delphos Jefferson Oberlin (#7 or #8)
Northwood (ONLY if they beat Hopewell tonight)

Any list tho has to include Tinora. That league plus the win over LC will get them in. I think even 8-2 will depending on the rest of the region tho. And Lakota does have the meat to get thru still. Will be fun to watch.

That LB score surprised me and so did Lakota having that much trouble with Margaretta. Oberlin whipped Akron Kenmore. Not sure how good of win that is. I think Kenmore equates to Libbey or Woodward. Hilsdale got a big win over Loudonville.
Things will start to get clearer as everyone enters league play. PH at LC this week. Great rivalry. I'll be there (since I am a PH grad)

Lakota did struggle for 1 half, but I really think it was that they weren't prepared mentally in first half.

Things are starting to shake up with losses to Crestview and Oberlin...Lakota can make a big statement tonight as they take on 3-0 Fremont SJCC. PH, LB, Tinora, and Hicksville continue to roll on. Jefferson posted a closer then expected W over Allen East. LCC takes on Columbus Grove tonight also. Its gonna be a tight year and possibly no undefeateds in region 18. week 5 awaits.
