Providing he doesn't blow the lead he has on Mark Martin on Sunday, Johnson will be the first driver in history to win four straight NASCAR championships.
Where do you think he ranks in history? I know Petty, Earnhardt and probably Yarborough are all ahead of him still, at a minimum.
He already has 47 wins at the age of 34, and likely four championships. He's already won the Daytona 500 at the age of 31.
8 full seasons as a driver 4 championships 2 runner-ups 2 5th place finishes 47 wins Over $52 million in career earnings

With the restrictor plates and making the cars almost even in racing today , i would have to say he is the best based on driving alone . Back in the day it was just who had the most horse power .
